Me Before You | Jojo Moyes Review by Mohini Jugran

Title: Me Before You

Author: Jojo Moyes

Ratings: Five Stars

Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has barely been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex–Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is.

Will is acerbic, moody, bossy—but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.

A Love Story for this generation and perfect for fans of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common—a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, "What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?"

🌸 I read it while i was in school, back in the days when I was a big-time sucker for romances and #HEAs and this one only got my attention because of the title "Me Before You". I was flabbergasted to see something titled "Me Before You" under the Romance Category. "Isn't love all about putting someone else first?", I pondered.

It was exactly what I needed tbh. I realised two important things that day.

🌸 Firstly, storytelling is not about telling the story of a person but the story of the development of a character from what it was to what it must become.

🌸 Secondly, don't fall the guy, that's the sure way to get your heart broken. Even, if it's just a book-boyfriend.

P. S. I did fall for Will, very hard and face-first. And it was as beautiful as it was gut-wrenching.

But I loved Louisa more and she made me come back for the second and the third.
