Three and A Half Murders by Salil Desai | Review by Mohini Jugran

Image
Hola amigos!! So I stayed up late last night with this crime mystery by Pune based author and columnist #SalilDesai and what a wonderful read it has been.. Still unraveling from all the suspense and drama it was.. I'm almost on the verge of picking up the others by the author but need a coffee right now.. #Ratings : 3.5 mindboggling Stars  Recommend it to all crime-suspense/thriller readers that crave the high of mystery and want to read a book that make you want to keep on changing the pages and go on till you find out everything. Very intriguing and you just can't guess #Who #How #Why till 80% even if you are big-time suspense reader. After that, you can join the dots if you are smart enough. But still, it was very good.

Review of Tomorrow's Woman by Greta Ballamacina

Title; Tomorrow's Women Author: Greta Bellamacina Rating: Two and a half Stars A dazzling poetic meditation on motherhood, female identity, ennui, and love by Greta Bellamacina, London-based poet, actress, filmmaker, and model. Personally I picked it up a couple of times trying to see the magic others saw in this one. But honestly, I just failed to see it. Halfway through after a dozen attempts to understand her thoughts, I gave up. There were so many things that didn't resonate with me at all. Maybe others might enjoy it. Many have. But this one just wasn't for me, I guess. It just seemed like an average book of mediocre writing skills when I did finish it successfully. Tomorrow's Woman isn't my kinda book.

The Apartment by K. L. Slater | Review by Mohini

Title: The Apartment Author: K. L. Slater Rating: Four Thrilling Stars Disclaimer: I received a free ARC in exchange of an honest review from Netgalley, Thomas and Mercer, AmazonPublishing. A fast-paced page turner that is immensely gripping. You just get hooked to the lives and can't wait to find out what happens next. The narration is very intriguing. The storyline just doesn't leave the hold over you. My second read by the author and I'd absolutely read more of hers. I would also recommend if you have the kicks for the suspense. It's the story of Freya Miller who is a mother of a five year old little girl, Skye. After the betrayal of her husband two years ago and now his death, Freya finds herself amidst financial crisis which she has no idea how she will survive. The money from her late husband's insurance can only last so long and she has to think about something and fast. What she doesn't expect is the miraculous offer by a stranger who meets

Where The Lost Wander by Amy Harmon | Review by Mohini|

Title:Where The Lost Wander Author: Amy Harmon Ratings: Five Shining Stars Disclaimer: I received a free ARC in exchange of an honest review from Netgalley, Lake Union Publishing, Amazon Publishing and Amy Harmon. In this epic and haunting love story set on the Oregon Trail, a family and their unlikely protector find their way through peril, uncertainty, and loss. Amy Harmon beautifully tells the tale of Naomi who is the protagonist of this story. She along with her family are on their way to finding better possibilities in life. Widowed at a very young age, Naomi sets off to West with her family on a wagon. What she didn't expect was to form an instant connection with John Lowry, a half-Pawnee man straddling two worlds and a stranger in both. “The hardest thing about life is knowing what matters and what doesn’t,” Winifred muses. “If nothing matters, then there’s no point. If everything matters, there’s no purpose. The trick is to find firm ground between the two way

Review | Regretting You by Colleen Hoover | Mohini Jugran

Image
****Four Unregretful Stars**** Disclaimer : Received an ARC from Montlake Romance and Netgalley in exchange of an honest review. It was a first mother/daughter book I read which had alternating POVs and I was a bit worried that it would somehow set me off considering the blurp itself said, "Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike." What started out as a normal story of a family somehow had me connecting more with Morgan than her daughter even though I'm personally closer in age to Clara. Colleen gave kinda easy clues as to what would happen as the plot unfolded page by page but dayummmmm, it was gripping and gut-wrenching with the overload of emotions just like any other CoHo book I've read so far. Morgan and Clara had the very relateable mother-daughter issues of this age and I couldn't help but see things from a parents' POV which was an eye opening experience for me. To be hones

Review | I Am Home To Butterflies by J. Alchem_Poetry Review by Mohini Jugran

Title: I Am Home To Butterflies Original Rating: Three Stars Genre: Poetry(Romance) Author: J. Alchem "Love and pain. You don't find them. They find you. And when they do there is no escape." This engaging poetry collection by J. Alchem is one of kind. It undoubtedly has the potential to not just grab your attention but also to hold it. And damn, it's soooo verrryyyy relatable. Being a teenager myself, and having gotten my heart broken a few number of times, it was just something I needed to feel not just connection and kinship, but also, liberation of sorts. J. Alchem is an avid reader and a critically acclaimed author. He is also the winner of several awards and accolades. His awards include Amazon Pen to Publish 2017 and The Best Author of the Year 2017-18. He is also the winner of Superhero Storyteller Award in the year 2015. Considering all this, it's no big surprise that he has the type of writing style that gets anyone hooked. "

Review|The Drum That Beats Within Us

"We are still Adam in his velvet cage, Eve still hungry for an answer. To understand the atom you must build a bomb; to understand life you must destroy it." Title : The Drum That Beats Within Us Original Rating: Four Stars Genre: Poetry Author: Mike Bond I received a free copy in exchange of an honest review. This review is in no way influenced by the ARC. A fabulous read by Mike Bond which was a poetic roller coaster ride in itself. The poet is effective in making us see things from his perspective and at times, seriously make us question certain stereotypes and believes that we live with. Prefacing the book is Bond's insightful essay on why poetry is an essential part of cognitive awareness, "how we find meaning in the incomprehensible, beautiful, tragic and sacred mystery of life." His poetry dances between reflections on the majesty of wilderness, the joys and sorrows of love, and passionate expressions of life's greatest existen
