Circe By Madeline Miller

Ratings : ⭐⭐⭐⭐

"There is one thing Gods and mortals share. When we are young, we think ourselves the first to have each feeling in the world."

~Madeline Miller

Circe is a Greek mythology written by Madeline Miller, author of The Songs of Achilles which was not only a n international bestseller but also won her many awards.

It was no surprise that Circe is the International No. 1 Bestseller - Shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction 2019. It also won Goodreads Choice Award for Best Fantasy.

This novel details the life of Circie- the daughter of Helios , the Titan Sun God and Perses, the nymph. Growing up, she feels like an outsider because unlike her siblings, she is very plain, fragile and doesn't have power. But everything changed when she realizes that she indeed has power.

The reason I've always loved the greek Gods is because of their power and pride. It encompassed all that and more. The magic, power, pride, madness, grief and love held me to it till the very last.

It was refreshing to read different characters from Homer's greek mythology from a different perspective. Most of all, I loved the fact that Circe was so damn strong that no matter what was thrown onto her, she faced it bravely. It was gorgeous and skillful retelling of different stories we generally read in greek mythology but much more relatable.

Recommend it to the readers of fantasy, greek mythology and women's lit.
